Planning a Cheap Date Indoors

With the weather being as bad as it currently is a lot of couples are tending to stay in for a cheap and romantic date night indoors rather than go outside and brave the elements. Plus, with Christmas having just passed, a cheap date night is a pretty good idea for many people right now!

Having recently written an article on cheap date ideas I thought I would follow up by focussing specifically on home date nights. Here are some ideas which my girlfriend and I tried out for a romantic but inexpensive date night indoors.

1. Cook something original

One of the most fun aspects of our cheap date night was cooking a recipe together which neither of us had ever tried. We have decided on what to cook the night before and then I had bought the ingredients on my way home from work. I have to admit, the main course tasted pretty bad but it was great fun cooking whilst enjoying a few glasses of wine and some chilled music.

2. Board games

Once we had eaten, we played a few games of scrabble. Now, I know that does not sound particularly romantic but it was great fun especially when considering that we had already drank a few glasses of wine to lighten our spirits! Plus we are both quite competitive which made the game more entertaining - while we were not taking the game too seriously neither of us was too keen on losing!

3. Watch a movie

Nothing makes a cheap date more complete than a romantic movie at the end of it. I am not a fan of romantic movies at all, but it is always nice to cuddle up on the sofa with the one you love and watch a warm romantic film. As I had no idea on which film to watch I let my girlfriend chose and we ended up watching Pretty Woman - I have to admit, it did manage to put a smile on my face and she enjoyed it too, even though she has seen loads of times before.

I really did enjoy this cheap date night indoors and we have decided that it something that we should do more often, as it does not have to wait until special occasions like Valentines Day. As we both have very stressful jobs it is a great way to relax after a long day at work, and what is even better is making a commitment to leave work on time or early in order to spend a longer evening together. A cheap date night indoors is definitely recommended - all you need is a little creativity - and a good bottle of red wine!
